We all know the warnings on packs cigarettes but the following we do not and I suggest we all should have it on our cellphones.
“Warning this device may cause divorce”
More and more we see couples going out for what they call “quality time together” such as a going out to dinner together, going out with friends or just talking to each other; while they are using their cellphones!
People still call this time been “being together?”
Too many divorces are the result of the lack of understanding and the lack of basic communication and interaction skills. Our society is lacking active communication and positive and meaningful interactions between family members.
Spouses today, are only concerned about technical matters between them and they barely have any serious conversations regarding other issues rather than the day-to-day stuff. Of course, Cellphone technology has added many advantages to our society, allowing us to be more efficient than in the past.
Activities such as watching TV together is a very ineffective way and not a positive interactive tool that can be used between people.
It is time to change this before it is too late.
It is an addiction:
Millions became addicted to their cell phones and gadgets and this addiction contributed to the psychological problems within the family’s natural system.
This article will not deal with the causes for this type of addiction, but keep in mind it is an addiction and an epidemic
The results of this addiction:
Professionals in the field of counseling and psychologist (including professional attorneys who deal with divorces) claim that addiction frequently contributes to marital stress and eventually it causes the termination of relationships because the addiction distracts couples from communicating with one another creating an emotional distance, a gap, between spouses and even with their children.
Lawyers are experienced with this new phenomenon. When a spouse is on his or her phone too often, It will eventually create “suspicion”, conflicts and destroy the needed mutual trust between them.
What can you do to improve and to change bad habits:
Spend time with face-to-face conversations with people around you, mainly your close family and especially your spouse,
Keep in mind, your addiction could cause, among other things, the end of your marriage. So make the right choice and be aware of the dangers,
Quality time is key. Therefore, turn off your gadgets at mealtime and turn your attention to those surrounding you,
Do the same and switch off all gadgets before bedtime,
Have a plan and a limit of how much you will use your gadget in a planned and well-deserved vacation,
Start to see your gadgets not as a must bust just as another tool to make a better life for you and your family,
A word of wisdom:
If you want to make a change before it is too late, do it by steps or you will probably fail, like in a drastic sudden diet,
Make a plan; include your family in building this plan,
Every day a new step, every step you will be near to a wonderful better relation with the people you most love and those who certainly most love YOU.
