This is not a typical testimonial because Tzvi is not a typical lawyer. When one says, “He gave me his time” it means a lot, but it’s not just about the time. [I spoke with another lawyer a few months back about a different issue and he suddenly snapped out of one tone and into another: "Well, that's it. According to my watch, I just gave you two minutes of my time for free. Time is money. Zvi was very helpful in getting us out of a financial mess we found ourselves in. New olim beware: creditors can freeze your bank account, stop you leaving the country and even stop your drivers’ license, all without telling you. All this because you signed for a letter when the postman knocked at the door without knowing what it was. - I want tell you that I learned a great deal from the articles that you have written and posted on your web site. I could not agree with you more; an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. While I am normally careful, I have been “extra careful” in Israel and thank g-d everything has worked out well, albeit with many obstacles.

- If I could summarize the problems that I have had heretofore, I would say 90% relate to the language barrier. It is all encompassing.

- In Canada, I did almost everything on the web with the addition of personal phone calls. In Israel, email hardly works. You generally never even get a reply. Now, I use Google translate and send the emails in Hebrew; the batting average is getting better.

- Things are getting easier every day, and I am really enjoying my time in Israel.

- Since the weather is so good, I am outdoors a lot of the time and the diet consisting of mostly fruits & vegetables has enabled me to drop weight without dieting so much so that my blood pressure pills have reduced from 40 mg to 5. I am just about off them.

- You are truly doing a great service to the community and I would encourage your organization work as it is a needed service.

WOW !!! Tzvi has helped me, again. First, Tzvi helped me with a rental agreement I never should signed; Tzvi found the problems with agreement and spoke with the landlord on my behalf. Next, when I did find a great apartment with a sincere landlord, Tzvi checked both the real estate agent agreement and the rental agreement making sure it was OK before I signed it; lucky for me, Tzvi checked the real estate agent agreement since it said I pay the fee whether or not I rent the apartment. Now, I was offered a job (my first since aliyah) and the job required a contract. Of course, the contract was in Hebrew and since I do not know either Hebrew or Israeli contracts, I really needed Tzvi. Sure enough, Tzvi reviewed the contract and told me exactly which parts were not right. Thanks Tzvi !!! An oleh would be lost without you.

I am an Oleh Chadash who made Aliyah approx. 1.5 year ago. After working for 9 months for a Company in Tel Aviv (my first job in the Country), my employer decided to "reduce the terms" of the employement. In plain English, this means that he wanted me to continue to work for him but for less money. - - Not knowing my rights in Israel, I contacted Voleh (Tzvi S.). I was quickly directed to Ayelet Zigdon, a Lawyer specilized in Labour Law. Ayelet offered me to meet with her on the same day (I was supposed to have another meeting with my employer the day after, so I really appreciated her availability). - - I found the advices I got from Ayelet very professional and clear. In particular, she explained to me that in Israel it is legal (and quite common) for an - employer to "adjust down" the terms of the employment of an employee. - According to her, the fact that they want to reduce my wages now is - because I'm still within the first year of employment and therefore - not entitled to any severance pay in case of redondancy. She also gave - me sone insights regarding notice period. Thus, after working for 9 - months, the notice period is approx. 13 days. - - Because there was no wrongdoing and because my employer still wanted me to stay in the Company, she advised me to negociate (which was wise). - - All in all, I can say that it was a helpfull meeting. We had a "typical Israeli" who tried some sneaky moves to basically sue us for a bit of money we didn't owe him, and he used a friend of his who is a lawyer to play the system against us to the fullest in what is called a "shitat matzliach". - - Well, thanks to help from Voleh he didn't get what he was asking for, and Tzvi was always willing to help out, by responding quickly to emails at all times of the day and night, and telling us what documents meant (we could scan and email PDFs and didn't have to resort to the fax). We don't know what would have happened without Tzvi, and are very grateful. - - I hope readers don't have encounters with the legal system here, but if you do, Voleh is there to help out.

Being an olah chadasha in Israel can be very scary when you’re involved in labour laws and other legal issues. You’re never sure if someone is taking you for a ride or trying to “screw” you because they think you don’t know any better. When I suspected I wasn’t getting what was coming to me, a friend sent me Voleh’s website address and suggested I find out what I’m entitled to – legally.
- So I emailed Tzvi. The email response told me I may have to wait up to a week to get an answer, which was a little disappointing, but understandable. However, I received a reply from Tzvi within 24 hours – and I’m sure it only took that long because Shabbat was in between.
- Tzvi, you really helped me clarify my situation and I am definitely going to use your advice to make sure that those responsible don’t take advantage of me.
- Thanks for all your help. You have a fantastic service here and the fact that you do this for free out of the goodness of your heart makes you a real mensch.
