Thanks for the article (and all the others you write). Coming from Australia where the Rule of Law is paramount, this “variable” interpretation and application of the law in Israel helps me to understand why Lawyers are sadly so needed for EVERYTHING.
– I worry about living in a place where some “rules” seem to apply more to some than to others, depending on who you know and what your circumstances are. The Rule of Law is arguably the most important component of a just and fair society – where the law is accessible and applied equally to all, consistently and in a timely way. Perhaps I’ve got it wrong, and in fact justice prevails, just on a more case by case basis by the grace of good adjudicators. Is this the case?
