This article was written before the “cease fire”. As we already know, this few hours old cease fire has already been breached by Hamas, and the countdown of the number of days begins until the next “operation” in a year and a half or two, as usual. The question is not if, but when, and most probably the IDF already has a new name for the next new operation.

An hour ago the sirens blasted again in its warning and missiles fired by Hamas went off nearby in Tel Aviv in the great area of Gush Dan and the South area of the country (again).

All neighbors met in the staircase area greeting each other in calmness waiting the 10 needed minutes until going back inside the apartments when suddenly one of the neighbors told us with a broad smile “all we need is Mr. Vladimir Putin as Prime Minister for a few weeks” – remember Chechnya?”

A dream we dare to dream:

“For all those whose cares have been our concern, the work goes on, the cause endures, the hope still lives and the dream shall never die.”
Edward Moore “Ted” Kennedy (1980)

We too have a dream, a dream that no missile will prevent us from turning into reality. We all want peace.

We all want to be able – as any other humane nation – to live a normal and peaceful life, not to live under constant threat of rocket fire! This is not only a dream, but it is a demand that we expect from ourselves and from the entire free world!

“No compromise on the main purpose; no peace till victory; no pact with unrepentant wrong”
Winston Churchill (1918)

“You ask, what is our aim? I can answer in one word: It is victory, victory at all costs, victory in spite of all terror, victory, however long and hard the road may be; for without victory, there is no survival“
Winston Churchill (1940)

And I would add: Real lasting peace accepted by the people on both sides and not empty “written agreements” ceremoniously signed.

Let us have faith in our strength:

It is time we dare to dream as a great nation and not to be afraid.

“It is time for us to realize that we’re too great a nation to limit ourselves to small dreams… I do not believe in a fate that will fall on us no matter what we do. I do believe in a fate that will fall on us if we do nothing. … Let us renew our determination, our courage, and our strength. And let us renew our faith and our hope. We have every right to dream heroic dreams. Those who say that we’re in a time when there are no heroes, they just don’t know where to look.”
Ronald Reagan, Second Inaugural Address (1985)

I want to thank you again – I look around and I see real heroes in each one of the new and old immigrants – for showing strength and fearlessness and dedication to be here in Israel at this time.
