As Rabbi (Lord) Sack’s said in the beginning of his speech (October 2019) “we live in an unforgiving age”.
We became Judgmental towards others but very uncritical toward ourselves,
We became uncompassionate towards others but very tolerant toward ourselves,
On the Ten Days of Repentance from Rosh Hashanah through Yom Kippur we recite a very special Jewish prayer during services: “Our Father, Our King (“Avinu Malkeinu“) inscribe us in the Book of Merits, asking the almighty to be tolerant, forgiving, accepting and , nonjudgmental toward us, consequently inscribing us in the Book of Merits (“Sefer Zechuiot“).
This year, in spite of the fact we live in a unforgiving age, let’s forgive the most important person we know, let’s forgive ourselves, this will strengthen our soul enabling us to be able to forgive others.
“Ktiva Ve Chatima Tova” (כְּתִיבָה וְחֲתִימָה טוֹבָה) – let us have a “good inscribing and signing” in the Book of Life.
